Ok guys so we need to come up with some ideas by next Friday because that is the deadline to submit our fundraiser idea. Liz and I have been thinking this over and we came up with some ideas. Keep in mind that this is going to be mainly for the family and kids so we need to do something fun (and still collect money). Now an idea that I had was maybe getting a small plastic swimming pool, fill it up with water and put plastic ducks in there. When the child goes "fishing" for one we look at the bottom to see if that person has won a prize or not. Another idea was getting a big wooden board draw some video game characters on it, put Innova across the board and make a small circular hole in the middle. The child must use a bean bag and try to throw it into the hole. We give them three chances and if they make one (or maybe two out of three) then they when a prize. An idea that Liz had was getting a wooden board, again draw some video game characters and put our organization name on it, put balloons on it and the child must try to pop three balloons in order to win a prize. For any game we will charge a dollar and they will have three chances to win a prize(if its too easy then maybe just one or two tries). Also we can also still setup the Innova banner and have flyers and pass them out to the children or parents while they are playing. This way, it will be cheap (on us), they (the family) can enjoy their time and most importantly we still get our organization recognized. I'm thinking that maybe for the prizes they can be video game character. I don't think that video games, tournaments or anything that deals with electronics is a good idea because we will be outside and we will need extension cords to plug up the electronics and I really do not want to be next to a building away from the interaction only because we need outlets. I would like for our booth to be right there in the middle of the crowd. If you have any ideas post them here on the forum, we will discuss this over on Saturday.

hmmm I like the idea of the ducks in the pool and the one of the ones with the wooden boards. It would be really cool if we could make game tournaments but based on my own experience, I can say that Minerpalooza is all about getting wet and thus having all the electronic stuff and water is not such a good idea. I was also thinking about the game where there are a bunch of balloons taped to the board, and we get those darts (I dont know if it would be too dangerous) and then well, we can discuss the prizes they get if they hit a winning balloon. We have to keep in mind that for this type of games we need to have PRIZES!
Soooooo.... WHAT WOULD BE OUR PRIZES?!
Some other ideas I had; I dont know how expensive it is but there is this game where there is a little pool and you have to throw balls to this target and if you hit it, there's this guy that will fall into the pool. I would really like something like this because 1. it is very fun, and 2. we can charge a little bit more.
I had also thought about this. Adan is a very good cartoonist. How about we sell cartoons? The bad thing about this one is that only he would be doing it (unless anyone else is good at it), of course, that is saying he agrees to do it.
Does anyone else have any ideas?

I like that idea about the water thing that you mentioned, if we can find out how much it is maybe we can do that . I did mention about the balloons and you have to pop three of them with the darts (that too is a good idea). As for the prizes maybe we can get some stuff animals or those little ceramic coin banks that I see a lot in juarez (they usually have different characters like spiderman or taz). As far as the cartoons, that sounds good....but I don't know if people would want to spend a dollar on a drawing. Maybe we can do face painting, but how many of us can actually face paint? I know I cant Some other ideas that were brought up this past meeting were: Loteria Shoot Omar with a paintball (Danny's idea) Shoot targets with deadly arrows(Liz's idea lol) Basketball(have people shoot 2 out of three to win a prize or set up a 3-3 tournament) Sumo Wrestling (my idea!!!) Throw pies at Omar (danny's idea) Shoot down targets with a nerf gun(my idea!!!) Whatever ideas we come up with, with must decide by Friday (this friday coming up!!! ). Any ideas or if you like any ideas from here....then speak up and vote!!!

I like the The Sumo Wrestling The Pie thing (It does not necessarily have to be Omar, but eh) The targets and the Loteria
Now, IMO, we have to look at the cons and pros (I'll give u my two cents)
Sumo Wrestling- PROS- I had not seen this before in Minerpalooza CONS- How much is it for the rent of the suits?/ There would be no kids involved/ Can someone get hurt at all (there are all kinds of people, u know)
Pies- P- It is a very fun game/ Anyone can do it/ depending on the pies, I think it might be a little cheaper "(shaving cream pies anyone?) C- It might be a little 2 easy- spice it up somehow
Targets- P-Anyone can do it/ competitive people might get a kick! C- are "nerf bullets" heavy enough to knock the targets (what targets, like empty cans/)?(Maybe a water gun, one with a lot pressure),
Loteria- P- traditional carnival game?/ again, anyone can play, or almost, I dont think little kids could but watever/cheapest of this ideas C- I think it is very simple, and repetitive, I know I would only play one time, I think we would get a lot of money.
Well, this is just something out the top of my head. I dont know what u guys think about the others. I think the Pies and target are the best so I vote for those. As a side note, I could do the caricatures. If they are one dollar or so, I think we might get a little money there. I would only need paper and markers or pastels not a lot. I am also not saying this should be a main thing, but a side thing we could do in the booth as well, just for extra cash, although I do not know if it allowed. One dollar or two per drawing seems feasible, some guys charge more than 10! Later guys!

okey...the day is upon us....
I was thinking of keeping the targets and balloons thing, but we limit the darts to three darts. Each (or some) balloons would have a prize designation such as lower lever, medium, and high. Where if someone hits the balloon with a low level paper inside it once popped they get a bracelet (or something cheap.). We could have many of these low level ones and then have very few medium (like the banks Fenie mentioned) and high prizes. I was thinking that for the prizes we go out and get donations from local restaurants (I know nothing but noodles is willing to give discount cards or free dinner for two things). I am pending Best Buy and Target...I can ask Walmart even for a donation. What ya think? Shall we submit this?

I was thinking, how about if for some of the prizes we get those glow-in-the-dark bracelets. I actually think theyre cheap, plus, little kids love them and will play until they get their bracelet. But where do we get them from?

Ok people so we finally came up with our ideas and we submitted them as well. Here is what will be done....
We will do caricatures (well at least Adan will and anyone else who can help) and charge $5. *We will do face painting (Laura will, and anyone else who can help) and we will charge $1 for a small painting and $3 for the whole face. We will have a raffle as well (Liz will try to get some gift cards donated from some places she knows) this price depends, if we get the gift cards for free then we can charge a dollar or two.
I was also thinking that maybe those people who are willing to pay for a caricature and a face painting should be able to enter the raffle for free. What you guys think?
*During this Saturdays meeting we also decided that we should do face painting. We decided this because if the Caricature becomes a big hit, we will have a lot of people lined up. So we can split that line and Laura will be able to do face painting, that will take some pressure off of Adan.

I think we should not be greedy and sell the caricatures for $4. I mean , people are already cheap and I don't think they will pay for $5 even though some guys sell them at $10, but those are "professional cartoonists".

I think we should test adans abilities and make him do some drawings this saturday (i havent seen him in action), and based on the quality of his drawings (we vote or somthing) we decide the price

Liz said something about changing the prices today. I think testing Adan is a good idea. It also depends on the time it takes him. However, I insist, we need to find something to do the rest of us. At least we should ALL be present and with the T-Shirt and help in what we can or come up with something.

I think we can come up with some ideas. If the face painting gets approved, Laura will be doing that and Liz said she might be able to help out with that. We also need someone to be in charge of the raffle that will happen and most importantly we need to get people's attention and get them to come to our booth. So maybe some of us can walk around our booth asking people if they want to enter our raffle or get a caricature drawn. Those are just some ideas, I am sure we will come up with something for everyone to do.

lets have adan draw all of us, then we stand beside our drawings so people will notice that the drawings are really good and they will want to pay for them

@luix thats a good idea, we can have our drawings up as samples so people can look at them and see that how good they are.

I did wanted to do that, although I wanted to have celebrity caricatures as well. I mean they are more recognizable I already have some examples and I am still practicing cuz to be honest it is harder than it looks! (I even wanted to draw Dr. Natalicio!)

Hahahaha, celebrities work well I agree, but you are the artist, just let us know what you need and we will help in whatever we can.

Great. I have been looking at some tutorials. So far, the quality is okay but some of the drawings don't look exactly like the person. They are either too ugly or too pretty, I mean I could make everyone pretty but then people will complain they don't look like that (ironically). Anyway, I think the best and cheapest way is get two kinds of sharpies, some notebooks and a couple of pencils which we can get at the bookstore. We could also sell frames just to charge a little more but I will tell you more to make a budget.

Sounds like a plan. We would reimburse of course whatever you spend for your materials, which I would like you to get them as only you know what you want to buy. Just make sure to save all your receipts!

yes it would be nice to have the caricature framed but another option we have is plastic bags, just so that the paper is conserved in good shape for a while. Just an idea. Adan, what would you say is a good size for the paper?
I have a sketchbook and its almost new, so if you want we can use that one. I dont remember the size but it is a little bit bigger than a letter size paper. Would that be fine? And I do have the pencils also.
